About ChooseAMovie

ChooseAMovie started with a simple problem: everyone had opinions, but no one could agree on what to watch.

I grew up with that problem. Every Friday night my family would pile onto the couch, the popcorn would be ready, and then the real event would begin — the argument over what to actually watch. My dad wanted an action movie he'd already seen three times. My mom wanted something with a story you could cry to. My sister and I never agreed on anything, mostly on principle. So we'd scroll. And scroll. Someone would veto a pick, someone else would sigh, and a good twenty or thirty minutes would just evaporate.

More than once the popcorn was gone before we'd even pressed play, and a couple of times we gave up entirely and everyone just drifted off to their rooms. The frustrating part was that it was never really about the movie — we all wanted the same thing, which was to spend the night together. We just had no fair way to land on something everyone was okay with.

That memory is the whole reason this app exists. ChooseAMovie is the tool I wish we'd had on those Friday nights: a quick, fair way for everyone to weigh in at once instead of talking over each other.

The app keeps movie night moving by giving each person the same quick rating flow and then ranking the top picks for the group. Nobody has to be the one to fight for their choice, and nobody gets steamrolled — the group's ratings do the deciding.

Our goal is to make deciding feel easy so your group can spend less time scrolling and more time enjoying the movie — together, the way it's supposed to be.
